1988 Tokai Japan TST-40 Goldstar Sound Stratocaster - Black
1988 Tokai Japan TST-40 Goldstar Sound Stratocaster - Black
Tokai are renowned as one of the best-known Japanese guitar builders, legendary for their high quality clones of Gibson and Fender style instruments, as well as the legendary aluminium-bodied Talbo which was made famous by INXS. Hell, they're such a good builder than Fender uses them to build Japanese Fender guitars!
In the mid 1980's, Tokai re-christened their Stratocaster clone as the "Goldstar Sound" after Fender got a little shirty with the previous "Springy Sound" name, which was cheekily stylised in a "Spaghetti" motif which was cutting a bit too close to the bone.
The TST-40 is a solid Strat clone, featuring a maple neck, rosewood fretboard, basswood body, ceramic pickups, and a two-way vibrato bridge, 3-way pickup selector, and most importantly, a bang-on clone of the Fender Stratocaster headstock shape as opposed to the later slightly-reshaped offering.
Overall this example is in very good condition with minimal signs of use, especially by black guitar standards.
Comes with a gigbag.
