1997 Orville Japan (by Gibson) LPS-80F Les Paul Standard Flame Top - Vintage Sunburst
1997 Orville Japan (by Gibson) LPS-80F Les Paul Standard Flame Top - Vintage Sunburst
Orville (or Orville by Gibson if you prefer) was Gibson's attempt at establishing a "Gibson Japan" to produce high-quality Japanese versions of their USA instruments from 1988 until 1998, with the brand name "Orville" coming from Gibson's founder, Orville Gibson.
If you love Slash, and you love Japanese guitars, this is as close to an official Gibson-sanctioned, Japanese-built Slash November Burst Les Paul Standard as you're going to get!
Built in 1997, the Orville LPS-80F is a historic-spec Les Paul Standard with features such as an ABR-1 bridge (as opposed to a Nashville) and a long neck-tenon.
This particular example boils down to the classic Gibson Les Paul Standard formula, mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard, set into a mahogany body with a solid maple top, and capped off with a sweet FotoFlame veneer finished in Vintage Sunburst.
As with most vintage guitars, this beauty at 27-years old has some dings and marks, but none affect the playability of this instrument, and we would still rate the cosmetic condition of this guitar at a solid 8/10.
Come with the standard brown leather/pleather/vinyl gigbag common with so many Japanese instruments, but talk to us nicely and we might be able to do a deal on a nice case ;)
