Fender Japan Pawn Shop '51 - Maple Fingerboard - Black - Used
Fender Japan Pawn Shop '51 - Maple Fingerboard - Black - Used
In 2011, Fender launched their Pawn Shop line of guitars and basses, all of which are unbelievably cool weapons built in Japan, and this used Fender Japan Pawn Shop '51 is no exception.
Originally conceptualised with images of old pawn shop Partscaster finds in mind as a limited Squier run from 2004 to 2006, the '51 is an amalgam of the three smash-hit Fender models, taking cues from the Stratocaster (body), Telecaster (neck), and '51 Precision Bass (pickguard and control plate/layout), but aso adding cool touches like a six-saddle string-thru hardtail bridge, super hot (24k) Fender Enforcer Humbucker in the bridge position, Fender Texas Special Single-Coil in the neck-position, push-pull coil split on the master volume, and a three-way rotary switch in lieu of a tone knob.
This example certainly isn't minty, but is in great condition for a black guitar almost 15 years of age which has been well played! There's a few light dings and scratches here and there, and the gloss finish on the back of the neck has been lightly sanded down to a satin finish to enhance playability, but all in all, this guitar is still all killer and no filler.
